A female police officer is nursing serious injuries after she was attacked by machete-welding gangs in Magongo area, Mombasa county.

Police Constable Saadia Abdi reported that she was accosted by three men who were armed with machetes while leaving her place of residence within Hakika estate Magongo to Makupa Police Station, her workstation.

According to a police report, the officer sustained serious injuries on her head and a cut on her right arm from the attack.

During the attack, Abdi was also robbed of her handbag containing her police uniform – Berret, name tag, ceremonial belt and other personal items, according to the report.

“Members of the public responded to her distress calls and rushed her to Chaani medical centre where she is admitted in fair condition, ” the report added.

The Police have launched Investigations into the incident and a manhunt for the suspects who are still at large is ongoing.
