Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) George Magoha on Monday said two KCSE candidates were nabbed with mobile phones in Nairobi while trying to enter examination room.

Speaking in Mombasa where he oversaw the exam rollout, Magoha warned teachers and supervisors of dire consequences should they be found facilitating exam cheating.

“We have not had any serious incidents. We dismantled the cartels in primary schools exams.

“We have noticed that they have formed another one,” the CS said.

Magoha, however, said the two students found with phones will be allowed to sit the exam.

“This morning, we have two cases of students with cell phones. We shall allow them to take the exams.

“I want to warn any teacher who feels brave enough and opens the exam papers beforehand. We shall come for you,” he added.

Some 831,026 candidates commenced their exam this morning, which is taken in more than 10,000 centres.
