A witness in the murder of university student Sharon Otieno case has narrated his encounter with the deceased two days before her untimely death.

Andrew Omolo Okelo told the court on Monday that he served Sharon and a young man wine at a hotel in Rongo town on September 3, 2018.

“I was watching the hotel television on September 5, 2018, when I saw the sad news of the lady I had served wine two days before,” Okelo told High Court judge Cecilia Githua.

He said Sharon walked into the hotel with a young man and sat at the veranda facing the bar.

When he approached them to take their order, Sharon chose Penasol wine and told him to bring two glasses.

The witness, who is currently a cashier at the hotel, further told the court that a man came in and joined them but did not order anything.

The man later gave the cashier Ksh1000 to clear Sharon’s bill and left.

Andrew said moments later, a heavily pregnant Sharon and the young man followed the man outside the hotel.

He is among many witnesses lined up to testify in the case in which Migori Governor Okoth Obado, his personal assistant Michael Oyamo and County Clerk Casper Obiero are charged with the murder of the university student and her unborn baby.

The three are facing charges of killing the student and her unborn baby on the night of September 3 and 4 in 2018 at Owade in Rachuonyo Sub-county, Homa Bay County.
