Businessman-cum politician Jimi Wanjigi has been summoned to appear at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters within 72 hours.
In a letter dated February 21, Wanjigi is summoned to set record straight about ‘illegal’ firearms in possession of one of his aides.
The DCI letter says that an ex-GSU officer who is a bodyguard to Wanjigi was in possession of illegal firearms at the Kwacha Group of Companies which he said was given to him by Wanjigi.
“As a matter of National Security, you are required to surrender the firearms and ammunitions held by yourself as you do not hold any firearm certificate.
“The firearms and ammunitions whereabouts are unknown and could be in the arms of criminal gangs as demonstrated in the arming of an Ex GSU officer inside the premises of a company that you fully control,” the letter read in part.
“You are therefore required to surrender the listed firearms and ammunition to the undersigned at the DCI Headquarters Complex Kiambu Road within 72 hours of the date and time of delivery of this summon,” it continued.
The former GSU officer identified as Onyiengo Mogeni was found with the firearms and ammunition while conducting investigations about the land matter of where Kwacha house is located on January 17 this year.
Onyiengo was previously employed by Elite Recce Company and the DCI suspect that he could have ulterior motives as he is trained to use the firearms.
