Former Nairobi Woman Representative Rachel Shebesh on Sunday recalled an incident where former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero allegedly slapped her during a heated verbal exchange outside City Hall.
Speaking in Homa Bay, where she rallied residents to vote for Gladys Wanga as the county’s next governor, Shebesh accused Kidero ( who is also Gladys’ competitor in the governor race) of disrespecting her and other women because of the slap he allegedly gave her nine years ago.
The Chief Administrative Secretary in the Ministry of Public Service, Youth and Gender revealed that though she had resolved her issue with Kidero, the former city governor paid dearly for his actions.
“Do you remember that I was the one Kidero slapped? Though I will not speak much about the slap he gave because he paid me millions, I am not an ordinary lady. He paid me millions because I am not a fool,” Shebesh stressed.
Shebesh also accused Kidero of not being loyal to ODM leader Raila Amollo Odinga. She cited an instance where Kidero, while still governor for Nairobi, invited dignitaries for a certain function but failed to treat the former Prime Minister with utmost respect.
“When he was the governor of Nairobi, we had something called The Governors Christmas Tree, a very big function. During one of such events, he invited President Uhuru Kenyatta, first lady Margeret Kenyatta, Raila and Mama Ida.
What annoyed me about the event that even prompted me to walk out of it, is that he failed to welcome Raila at the High Table where he sat with other dignitaries including the president. He forgot about the person who made him the governor of Nairobi,” Shebesh said.
Shebesh asked residents of Homa Bay not to vote for Kidero claiming that he “does not believe in Raila Amollo Odinga and has no respect for him.”
