Whether he’s performing in the suburbs or in the outskirts, the Kikuyu singer has become one of the most recognizable faces in the music industry in Kenya.

Mugithi maven Samuel Muchoki alias Samidoh has been ‘booked and busy’ every weekend since December 2016.

Speaking in an interview on Youtube, the 32-year-old who launched his career in 2016 catapulted after releasing his first solo project ‘Ndiri Mutwe Mwega’.

“The very first song I did in December 2016, gave me a breakthrough in the music industry, because since then, I haven’t had a free weekend, I have been fully booked,” he noted.

Speaking of his background, he recalled starting as a backup vocalist for Kamiti Boy Band before going solo.

According to him, his success in music has been achieved as ‘Mugithi’ cuts across generations and remains timeless.

“I began as a backup vocalist with Kamiti boys’ band and began as a solo artist in 2016. This is my fifth year as a solo artist,” Samidoh added.

“Success in the music industry does not rely only on you, there are other outer forces that guide success in the industry, one, trusting in God, you will need a divine force to guide you through, number two, the community I come from, people tend to listen more to music that cuts across from the younger generation to the old.”

Samidoh has been winning both home and away and just last year in December, he concluded his two-months tour in the US after performing in 11 states.
