Water PS Joseph Irungu has tendered his resignation from the government to the Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua. Irungu’s resignation is in compliance with an earlier directive by the Head of Public Service, instructing State Officers and Public Officers vying for political posts to vacate office on or before February 8, 2022.

Irungu now joins the race to supplant two-term Muranga governor Mwangi Wa Iria. His entry into the race will see battle it out with among others, the Muranga senator Irungu Kang’ata who officially launched his gubernatorial bid days ago.
