A family in Leeban Estate, Nairobi is seeking justice after a member of their kin was kidnapped within the city.

Roba Abduba Sereka a businessman based in Marsabit town was bundled into a Land Cruiser which was being trailed by a Subaru car, the family told K24 Digital on Thursday, February 3.

According to his nephew, Osman Adi, he was last seen on Wednesday, February 2 at 11:00 am around South C which is a few metres from his home.

On the fateful day, he had called Osman and asked him to prepare so that they could leave for Isiolo County where a relative had died.

“I prepared myself and arrived at his house at 11:00 am as he had asked me to do. I found his wife and we decided to wait for him,” Osman told this reporter on phone.

According to him, he arrived in the house and Sereka’s wife informed him that he had stepped out to get some documents for his businesses.

At exactly 11:14 am, Sereka who is also the owner of Gof Hotel based in Marsabit town called his wife and asked her to prepare tea for him.

That was the last time they spoke.

“We started making calls but none of his phones was going through, which was strange as he is not fond of switching off his gadgets,” Osman said.

He said that at some point he thought maybe his uncle known to hold several business meetings had cancelled their planned trip.

At 4:00 pm on the same day, he called once more and when he realized that his uncle’s number was still off, they informed an officer who is a family friend about the matter.

“The friend told us that officers had been informed of a kidnapping case that had taken outside a local supermarket in South C.

Osman with other family members visited the scene and eyewitnesses gave them details of the person who had been kidnapped.

According to him, they described how he was dressed and to their amusement, the description matched his uncle.

Luckily, someone offered to share a CCTV footage that clearly captured how the events unfolded.

Osman said that some men could be clearly seen tracing Sereka’s moves within the mini-business centre.

Asked whether his uncle had ever been threatened, Osman said that the family had never heard of any threats.

“He was peace-loving and everyone who knew him can tell you that he was always ready to help,” he said.

The family reported the matter at Akili Police Station within South C and were issued with OB number 32/02/02/2022.

In addition, they also visited Lang’ata Police Station and shared the matter with sleuths attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

Four days later, Roba Abduba Sereka is still missing.
