A tout based in Nairobi was on January 4 arrested for shouting and preventing passengers from boarding a matatu headed to Kitui.
Samuel Munene Njeri, who was arraigned at Makadara court, was accused of creating a disturbance in a dramatic manner by shouting at Kinatwa Sacco Manager for downplaying him and withholding his payment.
According to court records, Munene created a scene at the Kinatwa prestige Sacco offices located within Afya Center on January 24, while issuing threats to the Sacco manager Dennis Mwangi Kaloki.
Reportedly, Munene stormed the Sacco offices where the vehicles had been parked demanding his money from Kaloki. He angrily swore that no traveller would board the vehicle until the manager pays him his dues.
Passengers who were caught off guard remained stranded with those who had not paid their bus fares seeking other alternatives.
He later calmed down and left before he resurfaced again shouting and yelling all over prompting police to intervene.
Munene was arrested and escorted to Kamkunji police station where he was booked in for further interrogations.
In a virtual appearance, he denied causing mayhem when the charge was read before him
“You created a disturbance in a manner likely to breach peace by telling Denis Mwangi Kaloki to do what he wanted to do because you were not going to open the door until you are given the money,” the charge sheet read in parts.
He however denied claims and was released on a cash bail of Ksh5, 000.
The matter proceeds for hearing on February 28, 2022.
