Two suspects arrested with elephant tusks worth over Ksh9M in Busia

Kenya wildlife service officers in partnership with Busia police have arrested two suspects in possession of 26 kilograms of elephants tusks valued at Ksh9.1 million.

According to Busia sub-county deputy police commander Stephen Kimunya, they laid a trap at Korinda to nab the two suspects after they received a tipoff from members of the public in regards to the transportation of the tusks.

He added that the suspects a Kenyan and a Ugandan were using a motorbike to ferry the tusks concealed in a sack of dry cassava suspected to be from Uganda.

The two suspects together with the bids visa rider are currently being held at Busia police station awaiting to be arraigned before Busia law courts.
