Man takes his own life after killing his two children in Machakos

Residents of the Mwambani area, Muthesya location in Machakos County has been left in a shock as a 74-year-old man allegedly took his own life and that of his two children.

Peter Nzoka Makalya reportedly took his own life on Tuesday morning after killing two of his children, aged 14 and 7 and seriously wounding two others.

According to a police report, the deceased beat his children with a blunt object and stabbed them with a knife before hanging himself with a rope inside his house.

“Peter Nzoka took his own life after killing his two children namely; Joyce Nzoka, 14 and Daniel Nzoka aged seven. He also seriously injured his other two other children namely; Simon Kamai who was injured on the head using a blunt object and Mwiki Nzoka who he injured on the head using a machete and knife,” the police report said.

The two children who escaped the brutality of their father were taken to Kathukini Dispensary before being transferred to Matuu Level IV Hospital where they are currently receiving treatment.

On the other hand, the bodies of their father and other siblings who died in the incident were taken to Ndithini Daniel Comboni Mission Hospital Mortuary awaiting autopsy.

The police are yet to establish why the Nzoka decided to commit the offence. Officers have, however, been sent to process the scene of the incident.
