A mutilated body of a police constable under the division of Criminal Investigations attached to the Itabwa police station in Embu County has been found in unclear circumstances in Kerio valley along the Iten -Baringo highway.
The constable who has been identified as Abdirahim Adow Abdullahi,40, reportedly went missing last week on Wednesday before his body was discovered with his hands tied from behind and his neck and head bearing visible injuries.
The family of Abdirahim who is currently camping in Elgeiyo Marakwet awaiting a postmortem have decried not getting any support from the government and more so the DCI department where their son worked for over ten years.
“When we reached the Iten mortuary, we noticed his body had not been preserved and continued to decay. We tried to reach out to his bosses at the Embu DCI offices for help but they could not accord us any support. We are aggrieved because we cannot bury our kin as is required by the Islamic faith,” Adow’s brother, Said said.
DCI boss George Kinoti has however intervened for the family and a government pathologist has been sent to Elgeyo Marakwet to conduct a postmortem on the deceased.
After the postmortem exam is done on the body, the deceased will be ferried to his home in Wajir county where he is expected to be buried.
“We are asking the government to get to the bottom of this matter since we believe that his death is connected to his job since he was investigating over 11 high profile cases some of which are related to the drugs racket,” Said Zainab Dheka, one of the deceased’s wives said.
