Two children of the late Ronald Bundi and Veronica Ogake Bundi who survived a grisly road accident that claimed the lives of their parents and three sisters in December are stranded at the Coast General Hospital.
According to their maternal aunt, the children aged 3 and 10 have been denied access to their home after their paternal uncle allegedly locked their house in Mombasa over a property tussle.
Their maternal aunt says the children who were discharged from hospital have no home to go accusing the brothers of the late Bundi of turning a blind eye to their nephews.
“The children were discharged from hospital but they can not go home because their house was locked by their uncles. Even getting their clothes is a problem,” one of their maternal aunts said.
The maternal aunts of the two boys claim that after the burial of the five, the elder brother of the late Bundi took control of the properties owned by the deceased, something that triggered the attention of friends and neighbours of the late.
“He is not answering our calls. And it’s like he is choosing which calls to answer and which to ignore,” one of the neighbours of the late Bundi said.
However, Dennis Nyamweno, the brother of the late Bundi denied locking out his two nephews out of their house stating that the house is open and that two of his brothers are already living there.
“I’m surprised that they are saying I locked the house and I open it every day. In fact, there are people living there. How can I not know that the children have been discharged from hospital when I’m now their father?” Nyamweno posed.
Ronald Bundi Mauncho, 43, was travelling to his Kisii rural home with his wife and five children in the family car, a Subaru legacy, when he collided head-on with another car coming from the opposite direction at Mackinon area on the Nairobi-Mombasa highway
According to eyewitnesses, Ronald, who was driving, died on the spot alongside his two daughters, Natalia, 14, and Clare, 7, while his wife, Veronicah Ogake (40), Marion Moraa, 17, and two sons, Mike, 10 and Venand, 3, suffered serious injuries and were rushed to a hospital in Voi before being transferred to the Coast General Hospital.
Veronicah would succumb to her injuries while undergoing treatment three days later while Marion, a student at the Star of the Sea Secondary School in Mombasa, died on December 31.
