Parents and pupils of Sikulu Primary School in Saboti, Trans Nzoia County woke up to shocking news of a school night guard being butchered in unclear circumstances.
Peter Cheptang’at’s body was found lying in a pool of blood on Saturday morning inside a classroom.
Confirming the incident, area Chief Jane Chebet said investigations have been launched to establish the motive of the heinous act.
“I condemn the act in the strongest terms possible and I want to ask our people to be calm and peaceful as we conduct our investigations. The family of the deceased will get justice,” Chebet said.
The brother of the deceased, Cheptang’at Pakachin, said they are yet to come to terms with the untimely death of their kin and called for speedy investigations.
“My brother was a cool person who never quaralled with anyone. How he met his death through butchering and hitting with a blunt object is still shocking us.
“We only asking the security agencies to act swiftly so that his dependants can get justice,” Cheptang’at said.
Speaking at the scene of crime, Kinyoro ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) Laurence Mokosu condemned the act and asked the government to consider training security guards and arming them with firearms.
