KWS cautions Kenyans against job advert doing rounds social media, terms it fake

The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) has warned Kenyans against a fake job advert that is doing rounds on social media.

In a statement released by the State Corporation on Sunday, January 9, the advert was described as fake as they asked Kenyans to ignore it.

It stated that the advert had been put up by fraudsters who were targeting to fleece Kenyans of their hard-earned cash.

In the advert with the fake job details, Kenyans had been encouraged to appear for the recruitment scheduled for January 26.

“Kenya Wildlife Service Management attention has been drawn to actions of fraudsters who are inviting job seekers for KWS recruitment. In the social media adverts, it has been purported that the exercise will be held on January 26, 2022,” the statement read in part.

The statement further said that KWS was not planning to do any recruitments.

KWS enlightened Kenyans on what they should do in order to get authentic jobs advertised by them.

It said that it usually publishes adverts on mainstream media and its official website.

“KWS wishes to advertise the general public to verify any advertisements they see on Whatsapp and social media sites by checking out the official website,” the statement further read.

The fake advert gave details that the recruitment will take place across all the 47 counties.

It asked those who were willing to issue their academic papers in order to be considered.

“The entire exercise will be conducted by KWS officers transparently in all counties free of charge,” read the job advert.

Over the weekend, Kenyans raised concerns over the advert saying that it did not issue full details of what was expected from them.

This is not the first time KWS has issued a statement over fake job adverts.

In 2021, the State Corporation was forced to issue a statement over a job advert that asked those interested to part with Ksh500 in order to be considered.
