Wife Material Show
Eric Omondi began his 2021 drama series when he launched his controversial show, Wife Material.
The show itself was full of drama as viewers were treated to physical fights among contenders as well as unexpected developments.
In some episodes of the show, Eric Omondi surprised his fans when he alleged that one of the contenders, Shakilla was pregnant for him. It, however, later turned out that the pregnancy was all about clout chasing.
Other than the pregnancy rumours, the show also caused a lot of controversies among Kenyans. Some netizens accused Omondi of spreading immorality among the young Kenyans with his show.
These allegations placed him at loggerheads with former KFCB boss Dr Ezekiel Mutua who later shut down his show and arrested him for airing illegal content.
Jacque Maribe fiasco
Months after putting the Wife Material show behind him, Eric Omondi once again treated Kenyans to something to talk about, he claimed that singer Miss P was pregnant for him.
Omondi’s revelation created a storm on social media which in turn led to his clash with baby mama and media personality Jacque Maribe.
Maribe blasted Omondi for expecting another child with another woman yet he has never taken responsibility for their son, Zahari, since he was born.
Reacting to the allegations, Omondi opted to expose Maribe’s dirty linen to the public. The comedian revealed that he was reluctant to provide for Maribe’s son because he doubted if he was his biological child.
According to Omondi, at the time when Jacque purportedly convinced the child, she was also in a romantic relationship with Citizen TV presenter Sam Ogina.
His allegations led to a back and forth fight with Maribe and her family until businessman and Bonfire Adventures CEO Simion Kabu intervened.
Play Kenyan music campaign
Even before the dust settled on the Maribe issue, Eric Omondi picked a fight with Kenya’s music artistes, accusing them of producing low-quality music.
Omondi claimed that Kenya’s music industry is dead and that foreign musicians were dominating the industry.
This allegation has put him at crossroads with some Kenyan artistes including Sauti Sol members, Jua Cali, Fena Gitu among others who have accused him of undermining local artistes.
