A Kenya Defence Forces soldier attached to the Department of Defence (DOD) in Hurlingham, Nairobi was on Friday evening, August 2, arrested in possession of a stolen car.

Corporal Nicholas Kemboi was apprehended in Kabete, Kiambu County by DCI detectives.

The DCI said the registration plate of the stolen vehicle, white in colour, had been changed by the time they nabbed the suspect.

“He [Kemboi] will be arraigned on Monday [August 5] to face charges of stealing a motor vehicle contrary to Section 278A of the Penal Code,” said the DCI in an update posted on Twitter on Saturday.

Detectives say Kemboi conspired with another suspect, Eric Oduor, in the theft.

“Oduor had already been arrested and arraigned. He is currently out on bond,” said the DCI.

In-depth details, including the model and registration plate number of the stolen vehicle, were not shared.
