The mother of Ken Okoth, and her daughter-in-law, Monica Okoth, have agreed to have their late loved one’s DNA samples taken and be matched against that of Anita’s 3-year-old son.
Angeline Ajwang says after Okoth’s DNA samples are collected, she wishes that her son be cremated on Saturday, August 3 according to the Late Okoth’s wish.
Angeline wants an injunction issued on Thursday blocking the interment of Okoth’s body lifted, saying she and Monica will cooperate with Ken Okoth’s alleged baby mama, Anne Muthoni Thumbi alias Anita.
Angeline and Monica signed a consent form at the Milimani Law Courts on Friday, August 2, allowing the State to collect DNA samples from Okoth.
K24 Digital understands that the two have reached out to Thumbi in a bid to enter an out-of-court agreement, which they hope will see Thumbi withdraw her case in court.
Thumbi, a former Sonko Rescue Team employee, who is currently a nominated MCA in Nairobi, moved to court on Thursday to request for an injunction stopping Okoth’s funeral plans, until Ajwang and Monica recognise her 3-year-old son as a scion of the late MP.
Thumbi wants her son listed as one of the beneficiaries of Ken Okoth’s property.
“Anne Thumbi never wanted Okoth to conduct a DNA on her son three years ago. Why is she emerging now, when Okoth is dead, saying she is ready for a DNA test?” Sifuna told K24 Digital.
Thumbi’s case is scheduled for hearing on August 9.
