Residents of Kitui County woke up to depressing news after a middle-aged woman hacked her 10-year-old son over Ksh 100 disagreement.
According to witnesses, the woman attacked her son on Saturday with a panga for reportedly losing the said Ksh.100.
The boy had allegedly been sent to offset some errands, but returned home later without the required Ksh 100.
Area Chief Jemmy Kalua confirmed the shocking occurrence, saying investigations into the incident have been launched.
Police officers have since detained the woman.
The body of the deceased has been removed to the Kitui County Referral Hospital Mortuary.
