Four Administration Police (APs) and a police informer in Willie Kimani murder case have been found with a case to answer.

In a brief ruling, Justice Jessie Lessit on Monday found police officers Clement King’ori Mwangi, Fredrick Lelima, Leonard Mwangi, Silvia Wanjiku and Stephen Chebulet with a case to answer and put them on their defence.

“I have evaluated the evidence adduced by the State. I find that prosecution has established a prima facie case against all the accused persons. I now place them on their defence,” Lessit ruled.

The accused persons will answer three murder charges.

The court heard that all the accused persons will be giving sworn defence evidence in the matter and each will be calling defence witnesses.

The five have been placed on their defence in the trial that began today.

Frederick Lelima, said he will be calling six witnesses in his defence.

Willie Kimani was murdered in 2016 together with his client Josephat Mwenda and a taxi driver Joseph Muiruri.

Kimani had filed a complaint against a senior policeman accused of shooting his client, a boda boda rider.

Kimani was last seen at Syokimau police station.

Judge Lessit directed that the defence hearing in the case starts from Monday, September 27.
