Kisumu man in court for stealing billboard

A middle-aged man was on Monday arraigned before a Kisumu court and charged with stealing a billboard.

Gordon Onyango committed the crime contrary to section 268(1) of the penal code.

He appeared before the Kisumu’s chief magistrate Peter Gesora for plea taking.

The court heard that on the 10th day of September at Argwings Kodhek estate in Nyalenda area within Kisumu County Onyango stole one canvas billboard valued at ksh60,000 the property of look media company.

In the alternative charge, Onyango was accused of handling stolen goods contrary to section 322(1) of the penal code.

“That in the course of stealing, you retained one canvas billboard,” read part of the charge sheet.

He however pleaded not guilty to all the charges pressed against him and was released on a bond of ksh30,000.

Prosecutor Sylvester Thuo who was handling the matter did not object his release.

The prosecution has also set aside four witnesses to testify before the court.

The suspect was arrested on September 10, 2021, and detained at Central Police station.

The case will be mentioned on September 29 and heard on October 13.
