A middle aged-man from Chemomul village at Kapsimbiri in Bomet east is being held at the Bomet police station in connection to the death of his 90 year-old father.

Detectives believe the suspect in his 30s is behind the murder of his father whose lifeless body was found in his house on Thursday morning.

The deceased is said to have had a fight with the suspect on Wednesday evening over an alleged land dispute.

Bomet Township chief Rueben Langat who confirmed the incident noted that the body had bruises on the upper part of his left eye and at the back of his head, a clear indication he may have been hit by a blunt object.

Langat added that detectives collected a blood stained wooden jembe handle from the home which is suspected to have been used in committing the act.

“He may have died as a result of the injuries inflicted on him after being hit by the object on parts of the head considering he is old,” Langat told K24 Digital.

The administrator added that two other sons of the deceased have recorded their statements over the incident as police launch investigations into the case before arraigning him in court.

Reports from some of the family members indicate that the fight between the octogenarian and his son was over the custody of a land title deed which the former had surrendered in court as a surety in a case involving a relative.

“The two clashed over the custody of a title deed which had just been returned from court hence the fight between them forcing the other brothers to rescue their father and in the process of fighting he hit him with the wooden stick,” one of the family members who requested not to be named said.
