The lifeless body of a teacher has been discovered in a thicket in Gem within Siaya County.
The body of Joseph Oluoch Owino, 37, was found within the thicket and police believe that he was murdered before his body was thrown within the bush.
Police and witnesses believe that the suspect was murdered before his body was thrown in the massive bush.
Ms Janet Achieng, said that she was on her way home when she saw a shoe beside the road, she looked further towards a thicket and saw the body of a man lying there.
“It is then that I raised alarm and other locals joined me and we pulled the body from the thicket and put it beside the road,” she said.
“His body was found moments after he went out with friends on a drinking spree with some of his friends who came back home but he never,” said Samuel Hezron Nyawalo who is his area home chief.
Nyawalo said that the teacher has been teaching at Kanyoto Primary School within Gem constituency in Siaya County.
According to Nyawalo, the deceased was beaten up in a senseless way since his body was discovered with massive bruises.
The administrator said that the lifeless body had been taken to Yala Sub-County hospital morgue where it is lying awaiting postmortem.
The administrator said that one suspect who has been identified as Elisha Odhiambo, was nabbed by the police in relation to the incident.
He said that this is after revellers at a joint where the deceased was drinking told police that Odhiambo was the last person to be seen with Owino.
“Currently one suspect is in police custody and he is assisting in the investigations since he was the last person to be seen with the deceased,” said Nyawalo.
