Armed robbers on Monday, August 30, stormed into a top cop’s house, tied the house help before making away with valuable goods.

The duo had walked into the house of Senior Deputy Inspector General King’ori Mwangi who is attached to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs assaulted the house help identified as Jane Njoki and made away with the goods.

In a police report filed at Nyeri Police Station, a member of the public spotted a boda boda rider and a pillion passenger who looked suspicious and ferrying a huge bundle within Pembe Tatu Area in Nyeri county.

This prompted the civilian identified as Samuel Kariithi to alert the police who quickly responded and accosted the motorbike.

Unfortunately, the duo managed to flee leaving behind the motorbike which had luggage and a search on where a robbery had taken place kicked off.

“It was established that the subject had taken place at a house belonging to Mr King’ori Mwangi. Officers entered the house and found one Jane Njoki a house help at the home, who had her legs tied with ropes, and mouth covered with a piece of cloth,” the report read in part.

As she returned back to close the gate, three men forced their way in and threatened to stab and kill her if she dared to scream.

“They held her hostage as they ransacked the whole house and made away with electronic goods in an ordeal that lasted for about eight hours,” the report said.

According to the report, Njoki told them that the trio broke a safe in the house and also stole a pistol. They further entered three bedrooms by breaching the locks.

Police officers said that they recovered the following; cartridges, 50 Sellier and ballot 70MM cartridges, GoTV decoder, DSTV decoder, a computer video game system, rifle cleaning kit, cables, assorted items of clothing, police berets and door locks.

The scene was visited by Mr Adiel Nyange who is the county commander in Nyeri amongst other officers and detectives.

“A tracking dog from K9 Unit has been employed to track the robbers and a team of officers dispatched for the task. The house help was escorted to the station in order to record a statement over the matter,” the report said.
