Shock as 20-year-old Form Four student hangs self, leaves suicide note

Residents of Tulwet village in Solyot, Bomet County, are in shock after a form four student committed suicide by hanging himself inside his house under unclear circumstances.

The lifeless body of the 20-year-old student of Mengwet Secondary School was found dangling inside his house on the morning of August 30, by his parents.

The boy was expected to report back to school on the same day after the half-term break.

Solyot sub-location assistant Chief Willy Kirui confirmed the incident stating he alerted the police after he arriving at the scene of the incident.

According to Kirui, the deceased left a suicide note addressed to his parents in which he revealed he was battling depression.

“He left a note on the table saying his parents were not the source of his problems since they had all together severally tried to resolve but in vain,” said the administrator.

Some of the family members who spoke to us said the deceased never showed any signs of being troubled when he retired to bed after taking his meal on Sunday night.

His body was taken to Kapkatet Hospital Morgue pending investigations.
