A robbery with violence suspect in possession of a toy gun who was subdued by watchmen at an entertainment joint over the weekend will be arraigned at the Kajiado law court tomorrow.

Joshua Kalama,28, over the weekend attempted to gain entry into a club within Kajiado town toting a pistol to scare the watchmen who instead attacked him using crude weapons and overwhelmed him.

Kalama who tried wrestling the two night guards was seriously injured before it was discovered he was in possession of a toy gun.

According to the Kajiado Deputy police commander Joseph Muchiri the 2 am incident was reported by guards on duty at the popular club and police swung into action arresting the suspect.

“Our officers acted promptly and responded to the distress calls from the guards. They discovered that the pistol was a toy gun. We managed to arrest the suspect,” Muchiri said.

Muchiri says the suspect who is being held at Kajiado police station will be charged at Kajiado law courts over attempted robbery with violence and being in possession of a fake dangerous weapon.

“Our preliminary investigations have established that the suspect was on a robbery mission and intended to use the toy gun to create panic while committing the crime. We are investigating further to establish he was working in cahoot with any other criminals or he was a lone ranger thug, “Muchiri added.

Muchiri further gave a stern warning to gun-totting criminals saying police are on high alert to ensure the criminals are brought to book.

” I want to send a stern warning to criminals terrorizing residents. We have intensified patrols and we are closely working with members of the community to ensure criminals will not make away with crime. We are coming for you and the wrath of the law will not spare you. Criminals should be warned, we will arrest you and ensure you are prosecuted in court, ” he concluded.
