A Mombasa based tycoon was on Wednesday, August 18, abducted by seven men who identified themselves as police officers while his family watched in dismay.

Abdulhakim Salim Sagar, was kidnapped in Kuze, Old Town in front of his wife and children and bundled into a waiting Toyota Hilux.

His brother Faris Sagar told the media that they are worried whether the kidnappers were police officers or impersonators.

“My brother was heading to his house, which is near a mosque where he prays when a group of seven people confronted him before bundling him into the waiting car,” said Sagar.

It has emerged that the tycoon has for a number of months been receiving threats and the family suspects that he was being trailed by the people.

Sagar said that in a number of occasions they had noticed that his brother was being trailed by a Toyota Probox car.

Speaking to K24 Digital, Mbugua Mureithi who is the tycoon’s lawyer said that his client has in the past been arrested by police officers.

According to the lawyer, two men who were arrested alongside Salim in 2018 have never been seen to date.

“The matter is still in court and we have been following the case closely, the two were arrested in Liboi area and later told officers that they were working for my client as gas suppliers,” Mureithi said.

Mureithi said that in as much as the case has been ongoing, the investigating officer has never given his side of the story inside the court.

He further revealed that his client was charged but the other two were released due to lack of enough evidence.

However, just after two months the two men went missing and they have never been seen to date.
