Jane Muthoni, the former principal of Icaciri Secondary School who was sentenced to 30 years in prison for the murder of her husband has maintained that she is innocent.

Muthoni who is imprisoned at Langata Women’s Prison said life was tough two months after she was sentenced for the murder of her husband, Solomon Mwangi who was the principal of Kiru Boys High School,

In an interview with a local news publication, Muthoni said she loved Mwangi and that the killers of her husband would one day be brought to book.

“I loved Solomon too much to harm him. It might not be today but one day the truth will be known,” Muthoni said.

Muthoni, said that she lived with her husband in harmony dispelling rumours from her in-laws that she was a problematic wife.

In June a Nakuru High Court sentenced Muthoni and her co-accused Isaac Ng’ang’a to 30 years in jail for the murder of her husband who was the principal of Kiru Boys,

They were found guilty of killing Mbuthi Mwangi between November 6 and 11, 2016 after several months of planning.

In his ruling, High Court Judge Joel Ngugi said the court had factored in the time the duo had spent in custody.
