A court in Nairobi has charged a man from Kangemi Township, Westlands Sub-County in Nairobi with the offense of issuing death threats.
According to a police report seen by K24 Digital, Polycarp Nyaosi Momanyi allegedly threatened to kill a woman after she persistently turned down his sexual advances.
Appearing at the Kibera Law Courts on Thursday, Momanyi was accused of threatening to kill his neighbour lvine Anyango Ochieng at her house in Kangemi on the evening of Wednesday, August 11.
The court heard that Momanyi was arrested by the area chief and members of the public who responded to distress calls by Ochieng, the complainant.
Momanyi was allegedly attempting to break into her house while armed with a machete after breaking Ocheing’s windows before he was disarmed by the administrator and escorted to Kangemi police station.
Momanyi had allegedly visited Ochieng earlier requesting to sleep over at her house but she sent him away. It is after this that he reportedly returned while armed.
The court was told that Momanyi started hurling stones at her house and shattered the windows before she was rescued after screaming for help.
The accused denied the charges before Senior Principal Magistrate Philip Mutua.
