Murage’s arrest comes days after another man from Kimunye village was arrested on allegations of defiling a minor.

In the Kimunye case, a 38-year-old man is suspected to have defiled and murdered, in cold blood, a four-year-old girl.

The deceased had been kidnapped while heading home from school on Monday evening, only for her body to be discovered on Wednesday this week.

Kirinyaga East Deputy Sub-county Police Commander Patrick Nyaanga urged parents to play a role in ensuring the safety of their children.

“Parents should at all times accompany their children to and from school to ensure their safety,” he said, adding that parents should also advise their children not to trust strangers they meet up with in public.
