Police officers skipped the burial service for the slain Embu brothers conducted today at their rural home in Kianjokoma Embu North.
The burial, largely attended by prominent leaders did not see any police accord security and enforcement of Covid-19 protocols.
This might have allegedly been orchestrated by the fact that the police are ‘directly’ connected with the death of the two brothers.
Among the leaders who attended the burial event were Speaker of the National Assembly Justin Muturi, several Members of Parliament, County Assembly members.
It forced individuals to personally enforce Covid-19 protocols by ensuring that all those who made their way to the burial had face masks on.
This may be a thorny issue to police officers bearing in mind that the two were arrested by police for allegedly flouting Covid-19 rules and before their bodies were later found in Embu Level 5 hospital mortuary.
Police said the two jumped from a moving police vehicle and died on spot.
Autopsy showed that the two suffered multiple injuries occasioned by a blunt object.
Last week, there was a game of hide-and-seek between police officers and protesters who were demanding justice for the two brothers.
A police vehicle was set ablaze by rioters who were protesting.
Leaders who have spoken during the burial have called for the release of the investigation report, and justice for the family.
