A parent whose son was turned away at Kakamega High School during the recent Form One admission is overjoyed after the school reached out and offered the student his place at the institution.

According to Odilia Luyayi, the boy’s mother, her son secured a chance to join Kakamega High School after he scored 382 marks in KCPE.

“My son David Shimonyo sat for KCPE and scored 382 marks and was to join Kakamega High School. I downloaded the letter from the ministry of education website, surprisingly after completing the admission process including fees payment, I was shocked to be told that my son was supposed to join an extra county school that is Chebuyusi Secondary school,” the mother said

However, following a report by K24 Digital which highlighted they boy’s plight, Kakamega High School reached out to the boys’ family and apologised for putting the family through an ordeal stating that there was a mix-up during admission.

“My son is now in class undertaking his studies in the school of his dreams,” the boy’s mother told K24 Digital

On Thursday, Kakamega School principal Gerald Orina told K24 Digital on phone that the authenticity of the letter was in question and they are making a follow up to establish the truth and see how they could help a parent.
