The High Court in Kisumu has issued a warrant of arrest against Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o and his sister Dr Risper Nyagoy for contempt.
Justice Tripsisa Cherere on Thursday also sentenced the two siblings to one month in civil jail.
The two were found guilty of disobeying two court orders issued on October 11, 2018 and May 30, 2019.
The first court ordered required them to submit books of account into the multi-million estate of Hesbone Shimei Nyong’o (the late governor’s father),
The second order asked them to pay a fine of Sh400, 000 each for contempt and a subsequent Sh50, 000 fine which they ought to have paid for every month they failed to submit the books of accounts.
The two had skipped the May hearing, saying they were preparing for a burial ceremony of their mother who had died two days earlier.
“They will pay another 50,000 each monthly should they fail to honour the court orders after the expiry of the 30-days fine,” the judge ordered in May.
