A middle-aged man suspected to have been involved in a series of rape cases of schoolgirls and old women in Irenji area, Ikolomani constituency in Kakamega County has been lynched.

The suspect, identified as Carey Akosa, is believed to be a serial criminal who has been terrorizing women and young girls in the area.

According to locals, the suspect was recently released from Kakamega Prison after he was found not guilty by a Kakamega Law Court.

”We’ve been having sleepless nights because whenever the suspect is arrested, he is always released back to the community and continues to harass locals. We now have peace and can now send our daughters to shopping centres anytime without worry,” Beatrice Ayuma told K24 Digital.

At the same time, the owner of the piece of land where the suspect was lynched has asked the government for help saying the incident happening on his land is taboo.

Phelisia Iveria wants the government to grant her financial aid so that he can look for traditional elders who can perform rituals that set her free from any calamity.
