Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria is now a free man after a Nairobi court on Thursday acquitted him of assault charges.

Milimani Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku acquitted the legislator after the complainant Joyce Wanja Gacie withdrew the case against him.

“I allow the request by the complainant and withdraw the charges against the accused MP Kuria under section 204 of the Criminal Procedural Code(CPC) and order the cash he deposited in court be refunded,” Mutuku said.

While withdrawing the case, Wanja informed the court that she wished not to give any reasons.

She also denied being paid or coerced to have the case withdrawn.

“I have not been forced or coerced in any way by the accused (MP Moses Kuria) to have me withdraw the matter”, she told court.

Kuria had been accused of assaulting Wanja at the Royal Media Services premises in December 2019.

He had been released on Sh20, 000.
