There was drama in Milimani Law Courts when a 33-year-old man broke down in tears after he was charged.

Anthoney Baraza Okumu alias Rajab Omar Okumu wailed in court immediately after the magistrate charged him with gambling in public contrary to the law.

The man who could not stop shouting was dragged by police to the courts’ basement cells.

Anthoney shouted in tears ‘Mtoto Wangu‘ claiming his 2-year-old son disappeared at the Bus Station during his arrest by police officers from Central Police Station. 

“Anthoney Baraza Okumu alias Rajab Omar you are charged that on July 16, 2021, at 0930hrs at the country bus in Nairobi with others before court you were found gambling in a public place” read the charge sheet.

He is also charged with giving false information to the police at the time of the arrest. Particulars of the charge are that on July 16, 2021 at Central Police Station he willfully informed police officers attached to the Anti-mugging unit that his name was Rajab Omar Okumu and not Anthoney Baraza Okumu a fact he knew to be false.

Anthony pleaded not guily before Magistrate Caroline Muthoni and was released on a cash bail of ksh50, 000.
