Chief government Pathologist Dr. Johansen Oduor informed the court on Wednesday that the injuries sustained by the late Keroche heiress Tecra Muigai were from both a blunt object as well as a possible fall.

Oduor, while testifying before an inquest at Milimani Law Courts in Nairobi, stated that Tecra’s body had a major injury on the head with a minor bruise on the left upper arm and on the knees.

As expected there should have been bruises and abrasions on another part of the body’s even a possibility of fracture of long bones.

He further told the court that during the postmortem of the deceased, he saw two fractures one on the left one on the back of her head.

“This indicates that injuries were unlikely to have been caused by a single impact. To my opinion this observation indicates both blunt object injury as well as a possible fall,” says pathologist Oduor.

Milimani principal magistrate Zainab Abdul heard that the liver was fatty and mouldy, while the scalp was greyish haemorrhage.

On the issue of toxicology of Tecra, Oduor said that there were traces found on the liver.

According to the postmortem report tabled in court by Oduor, Tecra died from trauma to the skull.

“My opinion is that Tecra died because of severe brain injuries which were caused by blunt post-trauma as a result of complications arising from craniocerebral injuries,” he said.

Tecra died under unclear circumstances on May 2, 2021, while in the company of her boyfriend Omari Lali.

The deceased’s boyfriend, Lali, was allegedly living with her in a private residence where she got injured after a fall.

Lali was arrested in Lamu on Monday, May 4, 202 by homicide detectives after police found inconsistencies in the circumstances leading to Tecra’s death.

He was Charged with Murder but later freed after the DPP withdrew charges against him.

Other forensic doctors Andrew Kanyi Gachie and Professor Emily Adhiambo Rogena are expected to be among those testifying in the inquest.
