Kenyans have been cautioned to prepare for a colder weekend coupled with rains in various parts of country.
In a Friday, July 9 statement, the Kenya Meteorological Department advised Kenyans to dress warmly and consume hot beverages so as to keep warm.
“Weekend is around the corner, don’t miss weather updates if you are planning any outdoor activities,” the met department said.
“Meanwhile today afternoon Showers and thunderstorms expected over several places over Kakamega, Vihiga, Busia, Bungoma, Kisumu,” the weatherman cautioned.
He added that Kisii, Siaya, Homabay, Kericho, Nandi, Bomet, Nakuru, Elgeyo Marakwet, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Trans-Nzoia & Narok would also experience showers and thunderstorms.
In June, the meteorological department attributed an increase in cases of respiratory illnesses to the cold weather.
Increased cases of flu and common cold among other illnesses will be expected in Nairobi, parts of the Rift Valley and Central Kenya.
Nairobi will experience rains with cool and cloudy conditions which will flow to the counties of Baringo, Nakuru, Narok and Laikipia.
The Lake Basin will experience sunny mornings and the highlands of the West of the Rift Valley.
