Eldoret residents woke up to a bizarre incident on Saturday, July 3 when the body of a badly mutilated one year old was discovered along river Sosiani.
The angry residents complained of increased cases of young and unborn children thrown in thickets in a number of estates across the town. .
Juma Akumu, a resident of Eldoret town said the Saturday morning incident was not the first in the area.
According to Akumu cases dead children abandoned in the area and along River Sosiani which meanders through Eldoret town have been on the rise.
“We are saddened by the increasing cases of young children being killed mercilessly, we call upon young mothers and residents a like to take care of the young angels and if one is not capable please take them to a children home, ”Akumu said.
Confirming the incident, Turbo sub county police commander Edward Masibo assured Mangula residents of carrying out investigations into the heinous act.
Masibo urged members of the public to desist committing such ungodly acts.
“We are investigating the matter, however we urge members of the public to provide information that will help into the investigations , we also encourage members of the public and more so our women not to engage in such cowardly and illegal acts of taking the lives of innocent children,” Masibo said.
The body of the unidentified baby was moved to the Moi teaching and referral hospital mortuary.
