The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) now wants Hafsa Ahmed Abdi and her boyfriend Jackson Njogu alleged to have kidnapped their friend Hafsa Mohammed detained for 14 days to complete the probe in the matter.
According to an affidavit filed before Makadara court, detectives want to be allowed to continue holding the two suspects at Bururburu police station in order to complete investigations for allegedly kidnapping Hafsa.
Investigating officer Mary Wandia says that two were arrested over the weekend and need more time to complete the ongoing investigations.
“The 14 days will allow the police to conduct a parade for identification, record statements from victims and other witnesses,” says Wandia.
The officer adds that there are other suspects who are still at large and police believe that there are multiple crime scenes involved which can only be accessed with the help of the two suspects.
“It’s my founded fear that if the respondents are set at liberty they may flee bearing the severity of the offence,” reads the affidavit.
Wandia says that the two suspects (Hafsa and Njogu) took the victim to Kayole Junction to be incorporated in a business of supplying water melons.
Hafsa is alleged to have been abducted on June 15 this year and salvaged five days later.
Police said the two, Hafsa and Njogu were tracked to a lodging at the Flyover Junction in Kinangop where they were hiding since Mohammed was rescued from a house in Matopeni, Kayole.
The two, according to police, were suspects in the kidnap of Mohammed who was tormented as her kidnappers requested Sh5 million ransom before she was extricated on June 20.
The court was told that the victim was rescued and taken to hospital but still under medication.
