A man who attempted suicide in Kisii town this morning by tossing himself off a five-storey building was rushed to Kisii Teaching and referral hospital with serious injuries.

Eyewitnesses said they saw the man moving to and fro atop the building minutes before he sat at the edge and slid off but fell on the balcony of the first floor of the building which is next to Regnol Petrol station in the CBD.

A second-hand clothes dealer Sally Nyaboke said she saw the man walking at the top of the building before another man she imagined was his relative started begging him to come down to where he was at the petrol station.

Benjamin Mogambi said he was walking along the road when he was startled by a loud bang before he looked up to see people rushing to rescue the injured man.

Kisii County Police Commander Francis Kooli said investigations were underway to establish the cause of the suicide attempt.
