A man accused of defiling his three-year-old daughter was sentenced on Thursday in Kitui court to 45 years in prison.

Kiema Kisomo pleaded guilty to the offence committed at Wanzua, in Kyangwithya East in Kitui West, Kitui County about five years ago.

Kisomo is said to have engaged in this act in 2016, August 7 at their home, appeared before Kitui Magistrate Felistus Nekesa.

According to Ms Syombua Mukwenze, the mother of the defiled girl, the father came home drunk, beat her almost to death before committing the heinous crime.

The minor was left with major injuries including an inability to walk, and is also struggling with mental problems which resulted from the assault, and has been receiving treatment at the Kitui County Referral Hospital.

Syombua could not hide her joy after this ruling, which she termed as the end of her walks along the corridors in search for justice for her daughter.

She stated that she has been eagerly waiting to get justice for her daughter.

Moreover, she could not hide her bitterness for the incest that was done to her innocent daughter.

“Am happy and I thank the court for granting justice for my daughter. I was very bitter as a parent and I lose appetite for food some days when I recall the incident,” she said.
