Bishop Maragaret Wanjiru of Jesus is Alive Ministries turned her chucrh into a UDA party meeting on Saturday.
During the function she convened at her church in Nairobi, over 500 aspirants seeking to join the DP William Ruto allied political outfit converged.
“Today we had a very successful meeting with over 500 aspirants drawn from all the 17 Constituencies,” Wanjiru said in a tweet on Saturday.
“We gave them UDA Party booklets to continue registering more people to join our Party,” the Bishop said before requesting Kenyans to join the party.
“I humbly request for your support and votes so that together we can change Nairobi,” the bishop said.
In January, UDA fronted Bishop Wanjiru as its choice for the Nairobi gubernatorial candidacy.
Speaking during the unveiling of party ticket holders for the Matungu and Kabuchai elections five months ago, the cleric said she was ready for the 2022 race in a bid to clinch the Nairobi gubernatorial seat.
“Our opponents are already scared. And when they get scared, they begin engaging in Shenanigans,” Wanjiru said while addressing journalists at UDA party headquarters.
Wanjiru was unveiled by UDA to take over from former county chief Mike Sonko who was impeached in December by the Senate.
However, the by-election through which Wanjiru was to shoot her shot was suspended by Justice Anthony Mrima following a petition by Sonko.
The High Court judge said that he could not allow the by-election to be held while there was an ongoing suit challenging the impeachment of Sonko as the Nairobi governor.
Others who had declared interest in the seat include independent candidates Ferdinard Waititu (former Kiambu governor), Ogwang Raymond Ndungu, Kiigi Evans Machoka, Lengala David William, Hassan Jimal Ibrahim, Dr. Noah Winja, Otieno Aloys Lavern, Mukundi Mathenge, Munyanya Yassin, Olingo Timothy Ayieko and Njuru Phyllis Wangari.
