Police on Saturday arrested a 22-year-old man who was found licking the body of a dead lady at the Homa Bay Referral Hospital mortuary.
The man who has been identified as Onyango was nabbed licking blood from a woman who until her death worked as an Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) teacher in Gul Kagembe area.
K24 Digital has established that the woman was shot dead by unknown assailants while she was washing dishes at her house in Rangwe on Tuesday, June 15, 2021.
However, Onyango is said to have sneaked into the morgue and had an exchange with the attendants who asked him to register his details before he was allowed to see any bodies.
When asked whose body he wanted to see, the suspect gave the name of a male and was directed to where the body was lying.
He viewed the body and when he was on his way out, he saw the body of the female teacher and knelt beside it before he started licking her.
Homabay DCI boss Monica Berege said that already they were grilling the suspect over the incident and that there was need to establish whether he was involved in her death.
“It is very important that we find out whether Onyango was involved in the murder of the teacher. This can assist in knowing what is the link between his actions and her death,” she said.
An attendant told the police that Onyango started tasting the blood with his right finger before he knelt and started reaching the blood using his blood.
Police officers are yet to establish what led to the death of the teacher.
