Police in Thika are holding a couple for allegedly torturing their 8-months old baby in Kiganjo estate.

Thika town police boss Mohammed Kofah said that the couple was nabbed immediately after they took the minor to the hospital.

“It is really absurd that the couple did that to their own kid. The two will be arraigned in court on Tuesday,” he said, adding that neighbours had been requested to record statement over the same.

According to the police boss, the baby who is admitted at Thika Teaching and Referral Hospital has a broken leg and hand.

“He also has human bites in his cheeks and back. The scratches on his back are so deep,” he said.

The mother is said to be 18 years old.

Cases of children being harmed have been on the increase in the recent past.

On Monday, a man who kidnapped a minor in Murang’a and fled with him to Naivasha was nabbed by detectives drawn from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

The suspect identified as Charles King’ori will be arraigned in court on Tuesday.
