Police in Ukwala are investigating an incident where bodaboda operators allegedly burned down houses of Yenga Sub-location Assistant Chief Richard Ooko.

Speaking to K24 Digital on phone, Ooko said he had to run for his dear life when the rowdy bodaboda operators stormed his home and torched all his three houses to ashes.

“Nothing was rescued including the Huduma Number cards which were to be collected by residents,” he added noting that no one was hurt in the process.

Richard says all these happened because he denied them the permit to hold disco at a night vigil of one of them due to government health covid-19 protocols.

The Assistant Chief had to call the police when the bodaboda operators demanded to have the disco in place prompting them to rush to the Assistant Chief’s home in revenge.

Ugenya OCPD Willis Simba confirmed the incident stating that they have arrested several suspects awaiting to be arraigned in court on Monday.

The OCPD says nobody is above the law and that no one should take the law into his own hands.

“Several suspects have been held in Ukwala police station and will be taken to court on Monday” Simba said.
