Tanzania president Samia Suluhu has, on Monday, May 17, received reports from experts who had been assigned to undertake comprehensive research on COVID-19.
The report issued by the committee chairperson Prof. Said Aboud Ikulu was handed to the president at the Dar es Salaam State House.
Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony of the newly appointed government officials in April, Samia noted that a COVID-19 task force was her first priority and that the country cannot continue segregating itself anymore.
” We will form a committee of experts to tell us how the situation is and what the world is advising us to do. We cannot isolate ourselves like an island and we cannot receive what is being brought to us without analyzing it and doing our research,” Suluhu said.
Tanzania which has not received any vaccines so far, issued the last information concerning the virus in May 2020.
The president who recently visited the country noted that Tanzania will work closely with Kenya to enhance the fight against COVID-19.
