Nakuru County’s Public Health Chief Officer, Samwel Kingori, has died of Covid-19 complications.

The Health official died on Thursday, March 18, while receiving treatment at Nairobi Hospital where he had been battling the virus for nearly two weeks.

“We regret to announce the passing on of our Chief Officer in charge of Public Health Mr Samwel Kingori.

“He had been hospitalised for the last few days with COVID-19 related complications and had shown great recovery until 9.40am this morning when he suffered a cardiac arrest,” said Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui on his Facebook page on Monday, March 22.

Kingori spearheaded campaigns to fight Covid-19 in Nakuru County through training of public health workers and vulnerable groups.

Governor Kinyanjui said Kingori was instrumental in layout Nakuru’s healthcare strategy plan that led to the upgrading of their service delivery and infrastructure.
