A General Service Unit (GSU) officer killed himself moments after he shot two colleagues in Chephoina, Trans Nzoia County on Tuesday.

The officer, Paul Kuria Kinyanjui, is reported to have arrived in the GSU camp while other officers were exercising.

After the officers were dispersed following a briefing on the activities to be performed on Wednesday, the GSU officer opened his firearm and shot randomly, injuring two of his colleagues.

Saitoti Salunya Benard was shot on the left check while Evans Kioko Muli was shot on the right cheek. The two officers, as of Wednesday, March 10, were in a stable condition.

After firing the shots, the GSU gunman shot himself on the lower jaw with the bullet exiting through the forehead. He died on the spot.

Police are investigating the motive of the shooting and suicide as the officer had not reportedly argued with anyone at the time of the incident.
