The family of Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri has been thrust into mourning following the death of his son, Arthur Kinyanjui Kimani.

Speaking to K24 Digital on Monday morning, the MP said that his son died at the Aga Khan University Hospital in Mombasa.

“It’s hard to accept that you are gone. RIP my last born Son Arthur Kinyanjui Kimani,” MP Ngunjiri wrote on his Facebook page on Monday morning, March 1.

The 32-year-old Kinyanjui had been receiving treatment at the hospital for a respiratory illness.

Kinyanjui, just like his father, was known as a man of the people who frequented their Bahati home and interacted with locals in public gatherings.

The father of one was a well-known Safari Rally enthusiast, having competed in the races using his Subaru Impreza WRX.

In 2009, Kinyanjui was one of Kenya’s youngest top drivers when he competed against veterans such as Ian Duncan in the Kenya National Autocross Championship in which he came third.

In 2011, he took part in the KCB Safari Rally, making him one of the youngest drivers to participate in the prestigious event.

Driving car number 47, he was popularly known as ‘AK 47’ with the AK referring to the initials of his name.

Ngunjiri also lost his mother, Emily Wanjiku, on November 24, last year. She died aged 103 years.
